Taine Newport
Social Worker
BSW (UNISA) SACSSP 1044687 PR. 0704776
Starting out in 2011, I have been active in the industry developing and running adolescent programs, working in an in-patient facility and subsequently graduated with a degree in social work. I have attended countless counselling courses and have over 300 hours of addiction specific courses.
Watching and supporting others overcome the highest odds, I personally had to, is my passion and why I wake up every morning. The New Day Rehab centre, located in the south of Johannesburg, is where I focus my energies on helping individual addicts where they personally need it most. I hope to one day develop awareness around addiction which destigmatises and grows a sustainable recovery community that puts the needs of the individual’s journey first.

Lionel Rodrigues
Addictions Counsellor
Higher Certificate in Counselling (SACAP)
I started working with recovering addicts in 2008 when I opened House on the Grove, a halfway house in Orange Grove. But my vision was bigger and to help more individuals find the road to recovery as I have done. It’s been an exciting experience thus far assisting others creating a New Day.
I have completed multiple addiction counselling courses. I received my higher certificate in counselling from the South African College of Applied Psychology, coupled with my own experience that I apply to each and every New Day client. I provide counselling and personal expertise to the people in our care centred around gaining a greater perspective and positive outlook on the journey to recovery.
Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.
